It’s not every day a building just ups and moves… especially not when it’s a 1,500-ton church.
But that was exactly what happened to the Cathedral of St Dominic in Fuzhou, China today.
Part of the church building was taken 75.6m (248ft) from its original position to move it out of the way of a construction project.

The accommodation for priests will then be rotated 90 degrees to make way for a new road.
Engineers set the two-storey building on 400 wheels to run on rails before gradually turning it.
Planners decided on the action rather than demolish the Catholic cathedral in the capital of south-east China’s Fujian Province, which was built in 1932.
The huge project of moving the priests’ building started on August 30 this year.
